The story behind the Ritual Oysters.

For my solo show Ritual in 2018, I made a table full of hand sculpted porcelain decadence including food, fruit, dead game, and a plate of juicy oysters. After finishing the installation, I had a dozen or so of extra oysters that didn't make the cut, so I left them out on the snack table outside the gallery. To my surprise, they were a hit. I had several people express interest and so I began selling them.

Each oyster is one of a kind. They are sculpted by hand and vary in shapes and sizes. As with most of my sculptures, there is intentional stylization about them, usually something naughty. While making these, I have Georgia O'Keefe flower paintings dancing around in my mind.
